The Medical Home Bed Assist Handle/Rail provides a safe and secure grip to help seniors, disabled, or anyone with physical limitations or injuries to get in and out of bed unassisted. Equipped with a slip-resistant handle, foam padding, horizontal stabilizer bars and floor standing legs, this unit provides the ultimate support and stability for its users. This modern handrail design will blend in nicely in any of your bedroom. It promotes mobility independence and the prevention of bedside falls; a common problem among seniors and patients. Note: Bed Assist Handle/Rail does not require both box and mattress to work. However it will work only with mattresses 7-11 inches in height. It will not work on low/platform beds with height clearance less than 16.5" from floor to frame. The bed assist rail is for those with substantial limitation to their mobility and or handicapped that would require support when transferring in and out of the bed from a walker or wheelchair. The bed assist rail provides postural support while transferring and allows independent turning in bed, thereby offering a measure of security while in bed.


SUFFOCATION, STRANGULATION, ENTRAPMENT HAZARD
If product is installed incorrectly or moves from its initial position, gaps can occur which can entrap and kill. People with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other neurological conditions, or those who are sedated, confused, or frail, are at increased risk of entrapment, suffocation and strangulation.
NEVER use unless product is tight against mattress, without gaps, and at least 12 1⁄2 in. from headboard and footboard.
NEVER use with children.
NEVER use on toddler, bunk, water, or inflatable beds, or on beds with mattress toppers or soft compressible pads.
NEVER use with a mattress height taller than 11 in. or shorter than 7 in.
NOT to be used with articulating beds.

Bedside rail and straps work with most twin, queen and king size beds.
Stop using immediately if damaged or broken, or if parts are missing.
Stop using immediately if product shifts out of its original position. Readjust to the correct position before use.

ENTRAPMENT HAZARD
NEVER use product without properly securing it to bed. Incorrect installation may cause product to move away from mattress, bed frame and/or head or foot boards. This can lead to entrapment and death.
WARNING
Check to ensure all fixtures (i.e. screws, joints and fittings) on the product are tight and secure.
Check for damage parts, rips, tears, cracks or wear. DO NOT use if product shows any signs of damage.
Before use, check push pins and ensure they are fully engaged. Pins are engaged when they fully protrude through holes in the bracket and an audible click is heard.
DO NOT exceed the maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs.
Conditions such as agitation, delirium, confusion, pain, hypoxia, or needing to go to the bathroom can cause a bed rail user to attempt to climb over, around, between, or through the rails, or over the footboard, possibly causing death or injury. Bed rail user should be monitored to make sure such actions do not occur. Provide assistance if necessary.
This bed rail is not to be used as a restraint. Using bed rail as a restraint can place a patient’s safety at risk.
Not for use by those who suffer from seizures or other issues resulting in the loss of control of bodily movements.
The U.S. consumer product safety commission warns against placing babies to sleep in adult beds. Do not place babies in bed fitted with bed rails. Do not allow children to play on or around bed rails. These bed rails are not to be used to prevent children from falling out of bed. If gap occurs between bed rail and mattress, readjust so that the bed rail is flushed against the mattress. If this product is purchased for someone else, be sure to explain the benefits and the dangers of bed rails.

FAQs and Videos

Will it collapse down to facilitate getting into bed?

While the bed rail handle does not collapse, if you install it toward the head end of the bed, it will not hinder the user from getting in and out of bed with ease. Many of our customers who have installed it this way have not had any trouble with the product.

Does it fit inside a suitcase?

The bed rail does not fold and it will not fit inside of a suitcase.

Does it have a strap to hold it in place?

The bed rail comes with a strap to secure it to the bed frame.

Can this item be used with a sleep number adjustable bed?

The Bed Assist Rail will not work with an adjustable bed.
